Terry Townend

President

Terry Townend joined Pinnacle Engineering in 1993 and oversees general operations and special projects. Additionally, he has managed some of the firm’s most significant projects. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1988 with a BS in Civil Engineering, he began his career with CBI where he completed its construction-training program and subsequently worked as a field engineer and assistant project manager at a project management firm.

Outside of Pinnacle, Terry is a member of the Subsea Engineering Industry Advisory Board at Texas A&M University.

Mario Gasca

Manager of Subsea Development

Mario Gasca began his career with Pinnacle Engineering in 2012 as a Pipeline and Subsea Engineer.

Prior to joining Pinnacle, Mario held roles at Global Industries and Technip, including Field Engineer, Project Engineer, and Deputy PM on projects like jacket and deck installation and decommissioning, as well as pipeline installation projects in shallow and deep water in the Gulf of Mexico and overseas.

While at Pinnacle, Mario has managed the engineering and execution of multiple subsea tie-back projects, as well as other special projects such as repairs and maintenance of subsea assets and the installation of a subsea pump, among others.

In his current capacity, he manages the firm’s subsea field development and pipeline engineering group, which includes development planning, permitting, procurement, contracting, installation, topside processing, design and project management.

Mario earned a Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Master in Engineering from McNeese State University and is fluent in Spanish.

Mark Cortez

Manager of Subsea Controls

Mark Cortez was brought into Pinnacle Engineering in 2013 to develop and grow Pinnacle Engineering’s Controls Group. Since its inception in 2013, Pinnacle Engineering’s Controls Group has developed and supported 30+ subsea developments. Today, Mark continues to manage the Controls Group as well as advise on and support ongoing projects. His roles and responsibilities as Controls Group Manager include account management, business development, resource distribution, design, development planning, procurement, contraction, installation, construction, and project management.

Mark is able to leverage his technical knowledge, project experience, and work ethic to provide customers with a fast and cost-efficient solution to any subsea development or control issues.

Mark’s work experience prior to joining Pinnacle Engineering included roles in both the FMC Technologies Services Department and ConocoPhillips’ Sweeny Refinery.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Houston.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.

Marcus Sharp

Manager of Facilities

Marcus Sharp has over 20 years of industry experience with specialties in facility engineering, construction, project management, compliance, operations and safety utilized in offshore oil and gas operations. Marcus has held multiple roles working with multi-disciplinary teams in the design and construction of new facilities, retrofits to existing facilities, and subsea tie-backs in the Gulf of Mexico.

Prior to joining Pinnacle in 2002, Mr. Sharp was an engineer at Bechtel responsible for designing and integrating various types of process equipment into petrochemical plants.

Marcus earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1999 and has been a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas since 2008.

Tim Bunda

Manager of Facilities

Tim Bunda has over 20 years of experience in offshore production facility design, construction, and project management, including new facilities as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing platforms. Tim has extensive knowledge in API 14.C and 14.J compliance, safety in design, process engineering fundamentals, production operations, and onshore fabrication/offshore construction.

Tim earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2001.

Prior to joining Pinnacle in 2002, Tim worked in the lab at Praxair while finishing his college degree.
